Help shape future support for people with neck dystonia

At Dystonia UK, we are committed to supporting research that helps improve the lives of those living with dystonia. This includes studies that explore not only the causes and treatments of the condition but also the psychological impact it can have.

We are pleased to be supporting a new research project in collaboration with doctoral students on the Clinical Psychology course at Lancaster University. The current study is focused on people living with neck dystonia (cervical dystonia) and aims to explore whether a self-compassion smartphone app can help reduce feelings of distress.

Study title: A Case Series to Investigate the Use of a SelfCompassion App by People with Neck Dystonia

This study is now looking for adult participants with neck dystonia to take part by using the app for a short period of time alongside questionnaires, before providing feedback on the experience. By taking part, you’ll be helping researchers understand whether this kind of support is suitable, useful, and practical and contribute to shaping better support and services for others in the dystonia community.

This study is open to adults living with neck dystonia. No prior experience with psychological apps is needed, just a willingness to try something new and share your thoughts. If you’d like to find out more, click the link below to read the participant information sheet.

Please note: This study has now reached capacity and is no longer recruiting new participants.
We thank everyone who expressed interest or took part!
